Concord Action to Congress: “Pass a Budget the Right Way – Or No Pay!”

Press Releases

Executive Director Dr. Carolyn Bourdeaux released the following statement regarding this week’s continued lack of fiscal leadership on Capitol Hill:

“As Congress again stumbles into its traditional monthlong August recess, our nation’s budget remains in shambles. Congress needs to do its job and pass responsible budgets that don’t add to the deficit and are on time.

“At Concord Action, we have seen firsthand how fed up people are across the country with the chaos and dysfunction of the federal budget process. Our national grassroots organization has added more than 77,000 virtual advocates to our ranks supporting a “No Budget No Pay” resolution. We’ve also generated more than 231,000 advocate letters to members of Congress in support of the No Budget No Pay resolution. This is by far the most popular bill in our policy agenda – the frustration is very real.

“The time has come for Congress to do the hard thing: pass a real budget the right way, and if they don’t, then No Pay!”
