(July 29, 2026 – Arlington, Va.) – As the national debt continues to climb closer to $40 trillion, Concord Action is expanding its field team to expand the call to act on our unsustainable debt to more communities, recruit new advocates, and build stronger pressure for action in Washington.
The expanded team will support and organize local volunteers as well as help organize community events and build increased community partnerships.
“Changing Washington starts with building engagement beyond Washington,” said Dr. Carolyn Bourdeaux, executive director of Concord Action. “This team will help us reach more communities, equip more advocates and build the sustained grassroots movement needed to demand responsible fiscal leadership from Congress.”
Concord Action’s advocate network is growing rapidly. Since launching last year, Concord Action’s grassroots subscribers have grown by 288 percent and now includes more than 173,000 people. Collectively they have sent more than 464,000 letters to their elected officials on Capitol Hill.
The Concord Action field team now includes:
Phil Smith, National Field Director: Oversees Concord Action’s national field team and its work in communities across the country.
Ashlei Horn, Director of Grassroots Organizing: Leads the organization’s grassroots organizing work and volunteer engagement.
Bob Bixby, Field Senior Advisor: Provides senior guidance and support to Concord Action’s field efforts.
Kyle Duffy, Field Coordinator: Supports the team’s field activities, events and advocate outreach.
Dmitri McKinney, Regional Coordinator: Coordinates activities in the Southeast, with a focus on North Carolina and Georgia.
Erik Carter, Coordinator: Coordinates activities in the Mid-Atlantic and New England, with a focus on Pennsylvania and Maine.
“People across the country understand that Washington’s fiscal decisions affect their families and communities, but many do not know how to make a difference,” Smith said. “Our expanded team will give them the information, tools and support they need to speak up and hold their elected leaders accountable.”
With a stronger presence in communities nationwide, Concord Action will be able to reach more Americans and build the sustained public pressure needed to move Washington toward responsible fiscal leadership.
