Executive Director Carolyn Bourdeaux Responds to House Movement to Adopt Senate Budget Resolution

April 9, 2025

In response to the House moving forward to adopt the Senate Budget Resolution that will add nearly $6 trillion to America’s unsustainable national debt, Carolyn Bourdeaux, Executive Director of Concord Action, issued the following statement:

“Congress must hit pause on this reckless plan to add nearly $6 trillion to our national debt before they put our country into a fiscal checkmate that will wreak havoc on our economy, our national security and our future.  Economists, budget experts of both parties, and grassroots voters have spoken out against this plan. Advancing a plan to add nearly $6 trillion to our national debt at this precarious time threatens to spook markets further, edging our nation towards a fiscal crisis – with a recession, increasing interest rates, and stagflation. We commend the group of House Republicans who are standing up for fiscal responsibility. We urge them and all Members of Congress to reject the current plan and find a path forward that fully pays for priorities.”
