(Arlington, Va. – July 28, 2026) – Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), will present CRFB’s Fiscal State of the Nation at Concord Action’s 2027 National Citizens Debt Summit, taking place March 2-4 in Washington, D.C.
MacGuineas will open summit programming on March 3 with an assessment of where the nation’s finances stand, what is driving growing debt and deficits, and what Congress must do to change course.
“Maya is one of the country’s most respected and effective voices on fiscal policy, and we are very excited to have her kick off our first National Citizens Debt Summit,” said Dr. Carolyn Bourdeaux, executive director of Concord Action. “With the national debt soon expected to be over $40 trillion, Americans deserve an honest explanation of how we reached this point and what it will take to build a stronger fiscal future. Her Fiscal State of the Nation will help set the stage for advocates to take that conversation directly to Capitol Hill.”
The National Citizens Debt Summit will bring together advocates from across the country for policy discussions, grassroots training and meetings with Members of Congress focused on restoring responsible federal budgeting.
