
Following the release of the Trump Administration’s “skinny budget” on May 2, 2025, Carolyn Bourdeaux, Executive Director of Concord Action, released the following statement:
“The Trump Administration released a partial budget today laying out their defense and non-defense discretionary spending priorities. While we appreciate that the Administration has at least put its priorities on the table and paid for its proposed discretionary increases, given our dire fiscal situation, we have a long, long way to go. This proposal only addresses a quarter of the total budget and does not tackle the big expenditure drivers or revenue options. Further, the Administration is pushing for Congress to advance a budget reconciliation bill that will add $5.8 trillion to our national debt over the next ten years, the largest one-time increase in modern American history.”
